I've had 50/50 experiences with shops, and try to do as much as I can on my own now. Plus, if I wanted it done wrong, that's my specialty and I charge a lot less.
Ok, dumb question, what the heck is OBS?
Happens to me all the time. Every single time I pay someone to do a job it takes far, far longer than promised and/or isn't done properly. People are always saying I do too much myself but it's not by choice. Got to the stage now where people want me to do jobs for them.
the best deal i ever found was= simple faith in JESUS and HIS death and resurrection, giving me eternal life after death in this world,,and life in forgiveness for my sin,in this life today.
Blue top steering box will eliminate that play. They’re spendy but well worth the cost.
I fink I just learnerd dat
3 minutes in: fine i do it myself, yes on my scooter. They say here its 4t and idle is hovering not stable seen its 4t. I learned how to adjust airschrew and all and i its lean or running great now. I named my scooter Sonic-2 and i adjusted it at the point of highes power /rpm seen little bit more and it loses power so not the most rpm. The dealershop i bought my scooter was shocked how wel it runs and how lean( real strong and fast and 1ltr/44km). I told him how things work, then to see Aron work on things if great seen i reconize and learn new things. Great joy to watch this all.
I believe they called it the silent recall...?
Ford with their trucks have had bad steering boxes sense the 60's & bad leaf spring sense 50s
I agree with you, I do not take a mechanics word as gospel, I will research myself.
Looks like the steering shaft coupler is moving on the gearbox stub shaft. Tighten the pinch bolt.
It's called a Pitman arm!
globally sadly in water sport workshops the engineering skill and training is inadiquate.
in australia we mostly use detachable trailer light assembly bars, and put them in the tow car,so the never have to go in the water, only on road regulations.
Susie my wife will ask why not have someone fix it. Me can Ican not screw it any worse the some shop plus the savings I’ll spend the tool I need and still save Love watching you two. Thank You
MAKE Sure its water proof grease not car wheel grease.
hy from australia.when i had my trailer sailer i put grease nipple in wheel hub and after every launch /retrieval i pumped grease in to force out sea/river water,so beaRINGS LASTED YEARS,WHEN IN DOUBT-THINK///???
It's called a "wall job". That's when they park it up against the wall and when you come back it's either still parked there or they put it back after "fixing" it. But even after two weeks or two months, it's still broke despite a substantial bill. Too many shops are ran either by crooks or idiots or both. I used to DIY always, but after messing up my back and getting much older I have to depend on a mechanic somewhere. Finding a good one is hitting the lottery.
read boat owners manual and water regulations book.
carefull use of brake cleaner can fix injectors.
AARON- question you may have already answered. Are you going to try to get your medical back. If so, what is the time frame before you can do so. I know it can often take years. Just wondering as an aviation enthusiast. Would hate for you to be unable fly for the long term.
gloves could work.
so good to see you about the you tube world-You should start a relation with the LORD JESUS CHRIST t give you strength and healing.blessings.
Next time rent a pitman arm puller from O'Reilly's
"You have one but it broke"😂
Aaron, your flip flops are referred to as 'Australian safety boots' in the UK so you're good to go!
Aaron is embracing his inner Frieburger with the flip-flops. 😆
OHSA approved steel toe capped flip flops, I have the same pair ……..😊
Even well intentioned mechanics make mistakes.
Those steering shaft rag joints are notorious for play/slop even new. Boregson makes a replacement ujoint style kit you should check out. Just did this job on my 1972 k10! Thanks for the great content
Check the adjustment bolt
Em you soo funny 🎉. Love your Chanel
Aaron has a great sense of humour 😂. Love you guys and girls ❤
My friend was a Ford master mechanic and hated rebuilt parts he’d say that he didn’t want parts rebuilt by minimum wage people so he take everything a part measure and rebuild himself and sometimes bring me parts for machining.
You can take the slop out of the steering box. On top of that box there is a bolt with a jam nut losing the nut and tighten the bolt.
Derek was at Iola. Did you see him there?
There used to be an adjustment on steering boxes. A screwdriver headed bolt with a locking nut around it. Maybe they did away with those.
you're right about the Pitman Arm, but they call the frame mount side the Idler Arm
Aaron , You are a lucky man !! 😊
Isnt that a recirculating bearing steering box????? Kind of typical for that vintage... There is an adjustment nut on top that will take the play (clearance) on the recirculating bearings and make the box tighter... It was done to compensate for wear back in those years.. You can try adjusting the nut to take more clearance out but remember too tight will destroy the spiral race or bearings....
I agree with you. I hate sloppy steering, it's just I. Replaced the one on my truck. Mine had originally manual steering. I switched it to power and then I had to switch it again when I went to 4 wheel drive. It was so much fun. And the best part is they try to rip you off and say oh, you're steering box costs more. Because it's a different steering wheel. A different box because yeah, you're your 4 wheel drive box cost Moyes rip-off. Because we just went through it all. They basically take the same box from 2 wheel drive off of one ton all the way up to 87 or so for my truck. For full will drive. With a slight modification for the Lines
Cant u adjust the gearbox?
Yes I have been screwed many times but I can’t do my own work because of back injury.
Oh, you're gonna love it so much.Oh I love plasma cutters.Oh, God. They're so wonderful.I've run over before.I've used them when I was at work.I'd love to have one again
It's probably your steering box
Yes, I've been a mechanic for almost 40 years. I am that mechanic. I do my own work. Even when I'm disabled, it sucks. I'm restoring my old truck. It's 53 years old. It sucks some things I need a hand with. But I know what's done when It's done right?
The big old scream chickens.
Good then I'll offend you both I wear a detroit diesel
Like you said it's all in the engineering you just have to keep your chin up and that's what you both do and am glad you do! 👍
If you turn the steering wheel a half a turn and the steering linkage doesn't move, its the steering gear.
